Human–agent collaboration

Agents should help people use their attention and judgment effectively.

A person’s cognitive budget is limited: there is only so much they can notice, hold in mind, evaluate, and decide. We are studying how agents can focus, guide, and support human attention without replacing human judgment.

Effective collaboration therefore depends on more than what an agent can do. It also depends on when the system asks for attention, what it makes visible, what it handles independently, and how it keeps the person in control.

Our work develops interfaces, methods, and practices that help people direct, inspect, and collaborate with agents while applying their attention where it matters most.
